CHROMIUM-MOLYBDENUM-COPPER CAST IRONS

The 15/2/1 (15Cr-2Mo-1Cu) alloy is a modification of the 15/3 (15Cr-3Mo) martensitic white iron. 15/2/1 has very good hardenability, so it is suited for use in heavy section castings.

This alloy retains is desired structure and good toughness with carbon contents up to 3.6 per cent. It is, therefore, well adapted to applications where relatively high carbon contents are needed in the iron for optimum abrasion resistance.

20/2/1 (20Cr-2Mo-1Cu) is also a modification of the 15/3 alloy. It is also similar to the 15/2/1 alloy with the difference being the higher chromium content. The higher chromium content increases the hardness value and the corrosion resistance of this alloy.
